This section of store administration handles a few basic database and application related functions.

Database Backup/Export

Each database or table can be exported and, if using Lasso MySQL as the database application, backed up. This feature can be useful for exporting data that will be imported into a third party reporting or accounting application or for making a quick database backup. Note that this capability is offered only as a convenience for making a quick export or backup of a database. We strongly recommended that a better backup routine be used for regular reliable database backups.

Cart/Order Maintenance

Abandoned carts can be purged after a specified number of days to reduce the size of the cart database. Orders that were not completed can be marked as abandoned after a specified number of days. Credit card and checking account information can be purged from the database for orders that have been processed. Although that information is stored encrypted, this feature is offered for store managers that have anxiety (and rightly so) about keeping that kind of information in a database accessible via the Web.

HostedStore Application

The installed version of HostedStore can be compared to the latest version available. If a more recent version is available an appropriate message will be displayed. In general, one should upgrade to the latest version (it's free afterall!) to take advantage of any bug fixes or new features. A list of bugs reported for the currently installed version of HostedStore can also be generated. If any of the bugs were fixed, then the version in which the fix was made available will also be reported. Both of these utilities query the HostedStore Web servers for information. Neither sends any information about the store to HostedStore servers.
